Dystopian Fiction is a genre of speculative storytelling that explores oppressive, dysfunctional societies, presenting a worst-case scenario for humanity's future. These narratives are set in worlds where individual freedom is curtailed and citizens live under the control of a tyrannical government, an oppressive social structure, or a dehumanizing technological force. Often characterized by environmental disaster, the loss of individuality, and pervasive propaganda, dystopian stories serve as cautionary tales, using their imagined worlds to critique current trends, societal norms, and political systems, warning of where our present path might lead if left unchecked.
